Ridgecrest Water Utility Request to Raise Water Prices in Buncombe County
(Docket No. W-71, Sub 12)
Thursday, March 29, 2018, 7:00 p.m.
Courtroom 1A, Buncombe County Courthouse
60 Court Plaza, Asheville

On October 30, 2017, Ridgecrest Water Utility (Ridgecrest) filed a request with the Commission to increase the prices for water utility service in Buncombe County.  Ridgecrest serves about 314 customers.

Today, the base water charge (zero usage) for a residential customer is $16.98 bi-monthly; Ridgecrest is requesting permission to increase this base charge to $18.00 bi-monthly.  For a residential customer using 8,000 gallons of water every two months, the bi-monthly water bill would increase from $59.38 to $62.40.

People wanting to present testimony concerning their opinion about this request to increase prices, or any water service problems they might be experiencing, may appear at the public hearing on March 29, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., to give testimony.

This hearing could be cancelled and the matter decided on filings if no significant protests are received from consumers.

A Ridgecrest officer or representative is required to appear in person before the Commission at the hearing to testify about the proposed price increase.
