Aqua North Carolina, Inc.’s Request to Raise Water and Sewer Prices
(Docket No. W-218 Sub 497)

On March 7, 2018, Aqua North Carolina, Inc. (Aqua), filed a request to increase its rates for providing water and sewer service in all of its service areas in North Carolina. The amount of the increase varies by service area and community. For more information about Aqua’s proposed new rates, see the Commission’s April 5, 2018 Order.  (Customers in the Fairways and Beau River service areas in New Hanover County should also see the Commission’s Errata Order issued on April 6, 2018 which corrected and replaced the Notice to Customers (Appendix C) attached to the April 5, 2018 Order .)

The Commission has scheduled four hearings throughout Aqua’s service area in order to take statements from members of the public about Aqua’s proposed rate increase as well as the quality of service that Aqua provides. In addition, the Commission has scheduled an expert witness hearing in Raleigh where Aqua, the Public Staff of the North Carolina Utilities Commission and other parties will provide expert witness testimony and cross examine each other’s witnesses. The public is welcome to observe the expert witness hearing.
